From Cab to Keyboard: How I Shifted Gears to Get the Life I Wanted After Trucking
"From Cab to Keyboard: How I Shifted Gears to Get the Life I Wanted After Trucking.” - Cynthia Hewling
Introduction:
After 21 plus years of chasing miles, I started chasing meaning - and built the life I always dreamed of, one click at a time.

For over two decades, my life was measured in miles.
From the first light of dawn on the interstate to the glow of truck stop signs at midnight, I lived my life behind the wheel of a rig. I took pride in what I did — putting in the hours, running hard, doing what needed to be done. Trucking taught me grit, responsibility, and what it meant to provide.
But somewhere between the long hauls and sleepless nights, I started to realize something I never wanted to admit — I was running on empty.
When the Road You’re On Stops Making Sense
I spent 16 years with one company, loyal as they come. I gave them everything I had — my time, my health, my effort, my pride. Then one day, after all those years, a single complaint from a motorist changed everything. No one asked for my side. They didn’t even bother checking the dash cam. They just believed the other person.
And in that moment, something in me broke.
I wasn’t fired — I quit. Not because I wanted to, but because I finally realized that loyalty didn’t mean much to a company that saw me as disposable.
For years, I thought that’s just how it was — “keep your head down, do your job, and don’t expect much.” But deep down, I knew God was calling me to something different. Something bigger. I just didn’t know what yet.
That Moment in the Truck
I still remember one night after a brutal 14-hour shift. My hands were still shaking from the wheel, my eyes burning from fatigue. I parked the truck, sat there in silence, and just stared out the windshield.
That’s when it hit me —
I didn’t want to spend my best years exhausted, unappreciated, and missing out on everything that actually mattered. I wanted to live — not just survive.
So I made myself a promise that night. I was going to find a way to get my life back.
Shifting Gears
I didn’t know a thing about “online business” or “digital marketing.” I wasn’t some tech expert. But I had something stronger — a why that wouldn’t quit.
I started learning in every spare moment I had. Listening to trainings during runs. Watching videos on breaks. I built my first online stream of income from the same truck cab that used to feel like my cage.
It wasn’t overnight. It wasn’t easy. But the more I learned, the more I realized that this was freedom — not miles, not hours, not a paycheck that depended on someone else’s approval.
From the Road to Real Freedom
That’s how Profit Pit Stop was born — a place to help other hardworking people like me build something of their own.
I started sharing what worked, teaching others how to create income online, and mentoring folks who were tired of being overworked and undervalued.
Now I host mentorship calls, run multiple income streams, and help others shift gears from burnout to balance.
But I never forget where I came from — those long nights on the highway, wondering if there was more to life than the next load.
The Truth Is — There’s Always Another Road
If you’re sitting in your truck, in your car, or in your living room wondering if life could look different — it can.
You just have to believe that you deserve it enough to start.
Because the truth is, change doesn’t happen when you’re ready — it happens when you’re fed up enough to move.
I was just a trucker who finally said, “Enough.”
And now, by the grace of God and a lot of grit, I get to wake up with purpose — helping others find theirs.
